How to burn fat without building muscle?

Hi, I am 26 yr old female. I am 5 ft 4 in weighing 103 lb currently. My problem is that, inspite of being so skinny I have abdominal fat (those handles on the sides of my waist) and lil bit of fat here and there in my body. My aim is to reduce this body fat without building too much of muscles. Being a female i dont want to look like a weighlifter/athletic. I heard that elliptical trainer is good for burning fat with low impact. Would someone please tell me if the above equipment would make me
