Can I get strong upper body muscles doing push ups?

Hey, I'm 16, 6ft and 140 lbs, with basically no upper body strength. I started doing 150 push ups daily recently ( 50 at 6am, 50 at 2pm and 50 at9pm) and already am seeing results. I can't afford a gym membership or equipment and was wondering if this regimen is enough to build strong, visible upper body muscles? Also, would I be better off doing 300 every other day instead?
